Raising the monarch butterflies was definitely an experience—being able to witness the magnificent cycle of a monarch butterfly. During the three weeks of the program, I have learned amazing skills such as spotting eggs, telling the gender of the butterflies, and learning that they flew to Mexico which was so amazing to learn. My perspective on monarch butterflies has changed a lot. I always just thought, wow such a beautiful butterfly. But now that I have joined the program I can just look at the monarch butterfly and admire not just the beauty but the work it took to become that and stay alive.

This experience can help me in the future because now I have such valuable information that I can teach to other people. And even during ReWild, I can now expand my knowledge on so many other things about butterflies. This experience was very wonderful, and I was able to share the beautiful moment of tagging and releasing with a girl from the Ronald McDonald house going through treatment at the hospital. She had such an amazing time holding the butterflies and watching them flutter off to Mexico. I was also able to tell many people about what I had learned and they were all fascinated at how just a small butterfly could have such an amazing life.

The experience at the Raise, Tag, and Release program has been a magical experience that I will surely never forget. I am so delighted that I have had the opportunity to raise butterflies, take all of the information I have learned, and pass it on to other people.
